Daily Meditation Practice: Non-Judgmental Awareness at the Heart Center

This heart-centered daily meditation explores love as non-judgmental awareness: the practice of witnessing what arises within you without immediately trying to fix, change, condemn, or improve it. If you’re building a consistent meditation practice and want to create more space between what you perceive and how you automatically react, this gentle practice brings you back to the heart again and again. With repetition, that space becomes room to move from inspiration, peace, and divinity rather than habit or reflex.

Hello, beautiful soul, and welcome to your daily meditation practice.

Congratulations on returning or beginning this practice. I’m so proud of you every single time that you show up.

Wherever you are in time and space, go ahead and relax, put your body at ease, and gently flutter your beautiful eyelids closed as you take a nice deep breath in through your nose. Let that go through your mouth.

And then pull in another deep breath in through your nose, release it through your mouth, and last one like this: in through nose and out through mouth.

Now today we’re focusing on our heart center with non-judgmental awareness.

That is love.

If you’ve ever wondered what love is, it’s non-judgmental witnessing. It’s the ability to perceive something without needing to improve it or condemn it or change it. Instead, we simply accept.

So today we’re inviting our heart center to open to us, to show us something, anything. And it can be as simple as the rise and fall of our chest as we breathe. It could be an emotion, could be multiple emotions. It can be a physical sensation like tightness or openness, or maybe it will show us ease, or desire, or a secret wish.

Whatever is revealed, whether that’s somatic or physical, potentially emotional, or absolutely nothing remarkable, we’re going to return to the center of our chest, which is located in our upper sternum between our pectoral muscles, and we’re going to witness it as if we’re witnessing it from the inside.

So gently bring all of your awareness to the center of your chest, whatever is available to you today.

And as if you had an eyeball, a way of seeing behind your sternum to perceive, to feel, to sense, or even to imagine, witness this space with curiosity.

In this container where you and I rest, everything is safe. So anything that arises is for this space alone.

Our mind will try to take us places, and it will succeed, but as soon as you realize that that’s happened or happening, just bring your awareness back to the center of your chest.

And as you rest here for a moment, begin to imagine, or feel, or perceive this white light coming online in this area behind your sternum, between your pectoral muscles.

And this white light may come and go. You may feel you need to feed it with imagination, but it’s simply a reminder of your own awareness. In time, it will shift from being something you create or fuel to something you genuinely perceive and sense.

For the next few moments, you and I will rest in this space, gently perceiving, bringing ourselves back when our mind wanders, and I’ll call us back together when it’s time.

Here we go.

[Silent interlude]

Beautiful, my sweet friend. Beautiful.

Bring your awareness back to the center of your chest if it’s wandered away.

Take a nice deep breath in through your nose, and let it go through your mouth. Another one just like that: in nose, out mouth.

Perfect.

Breathe easy now, your own pace, your own rhythm.

And know that whatever you perceived or didn’t perceive is perfect. We’re not taking anything out of this session to resolve or fix or heal or change. We just come here to witness and to practice over and over again, perceiving without needing to change or act from a patterned place, or act out of habit or reflex.

That is what this practice is about, every single day, and every day that you do it, you will get better and better, and you will feel more and more space within yourself to move from inspiration, from peace, from, dare I say it, divinity, rather than from a pre-coded destiny.

You’re doing wonderfully, and I’m so, so honored that you’re here.

When you’re ready, flutter your beautiful eyelids open and move through your day or night knowing that you are so very worthy of love.

Always more, never less.

Bye for now.
