The Living Breath: Witnessing the Mystery Within

This breath awareness practice invites you to stop managing the breath and simply witness the life force already moving through you, shifting your perspective from the doer into the witness. If you’ve been caught in striving, controlling, achieving, or trying to force yourself into a more awakened state, this practice offers a simpler doorway back to presence. Let the body breathe, observe your own animation in real time, and remember that your worth and your way home are already here.

Hello, beautiful soul, and welcome to Meditate with Mandy. I’m Mandy, and it is my honor and privilege to share a moment of presence with you.

Whether it’s day or night, go ahead and get cozy and get comfy in your space. And when you’re ready, and not a moment before, allow your eyelids to flutter closed like butterfly wings, and take a deep breath in through your nose and let it go through your mouth. Another deep breath in through your nose and let it go through your mouth. In through your nose. Pause at the top, and let it go through your mouth. And last one like this. Deep breath in through your nose, steady and slow. Pause at the top, and let it go through your mouth.

Glorious.

And now breathe easy, my sweet friend, letting your body set the pace and the rhythm, the volume, the depth. No need to make the breaths even or specific. Just let the body go and witness that breathing.

Let your shoulders melt down and your forehead relax and smooth. Allow your jaw to unclench, your hands to unfurl if they’ve been closed into fists, and let yourself be comforted by your breath.

Today we marvel at the magnificence of life force within us.

Whether you’re presently breathing unassisted or assisted, you are experiencing human life.

As you know, my sweet friend, it is so easy, so natural, and truly an intentional part of our human consciousness that we slip into the belief that we are in control of this thing, that we are the doers.

We make lists and goals. We set objectives. We hold our dreams.

And it’s all perfect.

This is part of the plan, the grand tapestry, that we would buy in so beautifully to the dream.

So let us never fault the way we cling, the way we tell stories and seek explanations and give meaning.

But for a moment, one little moment each day, like today, we can pause the clinging.

We can pause the narrative, the identity, the doing, the achieving, and even the surrendering.

And we can come to the breath.

The breath is a portal.

It gently shifts our perspective from the doer into the witness.

The lover.

The blissful.

When we approach our breath without trying to control it, set it, manipulate it, we just witness it.

We are witnessing the process of our own animation in real time.

Whatever rises, my sweet friend, thoughts or emotions, physical sensations, let them move through you, past you, and witness your breath.

[Silent interlude]

Beautiful, my sweet friend. Beautiful.

Your breath is your license. Your license to exist.

An opportunity, a privilege that is afforded only unto you.

As far as we know, you may be the only one existing.

You’re certainly the only one existing with your unique divine patterning, your breadth of experiences, the beauty of your perspective.

The value of your existence is immeasurable.

It’s infinite, just like your worth.

The gold mine that resides within the center of your chest, an absolute cavern of treasure, won’t be activated by prying it open, or dominating it into submission, or trying to use force as a gateway to surrender.

I mean, all of those things will contribute to your awakening, make no mistake.

But to access it now, because it is available to you now, simply showing up as you have just done in any moment of your day or night, curious, breathing, and open to the absolute unexpected.

That is your divine recipe.

When you’re ready, my sweet friend, take a nice deep breath in through your nose and release it through your mouth.

Beautiful.

Follow it up with another deep breath in through your nose. Let it go through your mouth. In nose, nice and slow. Nice and slow out mouth.

And last one, in through the nose. Hold at the top. A smile might peek out, and then let it go through your mouth.

Glorious.

Breathe easy.

You know how to get home, my sweet friend. It’s right here.

Until we meet again, I am sending you all of the love that I’ve got.

It’s always more.

It’s never less.

Because you, my divine friend, my witness and pattern dancing in one, you are so very worthy.
